Tool Review Tuesday: Tim Holtz Ideaology Unmounted Stamp Binder and Refill Pockets

Yes, it's Wednesday. I totally forgot about posting the Tool Review yesterday! I am so sorry. Thankfully, Marilyn didn't forget (thanks for being on the ball, Marilyn!)....so we'll get right to it.

Looking for a way to wrangle all those stamps you own? Marilyn has reviewed the Advantus Tim Holtz Idea-ology Unmounted Stamp Binder and coordinating Refill pockets for you. You can see her review HERE on her blog post from yesterday.

I personally own 3 of the binders and love them. I have them crammed full of stamps. I will be adding more to the shelves as my stamp collection grows. And if you'd like to personalize your binders, change the color, etc, be sure to watch this video from Tim Holtz that shows a cool way to change the look of the binder.

When you are ready to order one or more of these binders, or if you need refill pockets, all you have to do is join us in the Lone Wolf Designs Discount Craft Supplies group on Facebook. My prices are always 25% off MSRP in that group. Here are the prices and SKU's for today's featured products:

Tool Review Tuesday: Xyron Mega Runner

It's time for another Tool Review Tuesday, and today, I want to share with you my favorite adhesive runner. The Xyron Mega Runner recently became my new favorite adhesive runner.

I am one of the minority few who do not like the Scotch ATG....in fact, I hate it. For me, it's too big and bulky, and I found loading it quite annoying. I am more of a cartridge-adhesive type of crafty gal. If you are, too, keep reading.

The Xyron Mega Runner is a medium-sized adhesive runner. In comparison, the ATG is large and the Tombow Mono Adhesive is small. The pictures below are not to scale, but you get the idea.

The Xyron Mega Runner fits nicely in small hands and is not heavy. When you lay it down, it doesn't take up a lot of room on your crafting desk/table. And one nifty feature is the hinged cap that you can close when not in use to cover the adhesive tip:

You won't find these on an ATG!
The adhesive refills for the Mega Runner comes in 1/4" and 1/2" sizes. The cartridges can easily be changed whenever you need to and switched back and forth depending on your needs. Just close the cap, take the cartridge out, pop in the other one, and you're done!

The 1/2" cartridge is clear.
It easily just pops right out!
The 1/4" cartridge is blue. Just remove the cardboard protective packaging....
Pop it into the handle.....
Turn this dial clockwise 1/2 a turn to tighten the reel, close the cover, and you're done!!
How easy peasy is that??? I love this thing! So I'm sure you're asking, but how is the adhesive? Well, let me tell you....this adhesive holds just as well if not better than most of the adhesive runners I have used, including the ATG. Afterall, it's made by Xyron! But one of the things I like is the fact that if I put my piece down crooked, as I often do, I can easily reposition it without having to use Un-Du Adhesive Remover or a crow bar to remove it! After a few minutes, moving it becomes more difficult and then it is permanent. Here is what the adhesive looks like on paper (I highlighted it with ink so you could see it):
Don't let these tiny little dots fool you....it holds like a champ!
Those tiny dots also mean no broken cartridges.
Let me tell you briefly about another adhesive runner I used to use, and why I stopped using it....the Glue Arts Glue Glider Pro.
I no longer endorse or recommend this product.
The Glue Glider Pro was at one time my adhesive runner of choice, until Glue Arts came out with their "multi-directional cartridge" that you could push or pull. You can no longer buy the regular cartridges, only these. Here's my problem with that:

See the tape line that I'm pointing at with the skewer? It's broken. That cartridge is shot. And I had just started using it. Cartridge after cartridge was doing this to me. I contacted Glue Arts and was told it was a common problem with the new cartridges. So I went looking for another adhesive runner and found the Xyron Mega Runner.

Now, if you're holding out because you don't like the blue color of the Xyron Mega Runner, hold out no more! It also comes in a pink design from Teresa Collins! Both designs use the same refills.

So there you have it...the Xyron Mega Runner. If you're looking for an adhesive runner that works just right for you, try this one. I think you'll like it.

If you decide you want to order the Xyron Mega Runner and/or the refill cartridges, they are available through Lone Wolf Designs. Here is the ordering information for each of them.
